We are delighted to be hosting the 2nd International Symposium on Lipid Oxidation and Antioxidants organized by Euro Fed Lipid,
which will be held in Graz, Austria, from 4-6 June 2018.
The symposium will be held at the Karl-Franz University of Graz, which was founded in 1585 and is the second oldest University in Austria.
Graz has a long tradition as seat of universities: its six universities have more than 44,000 students.
This meeting will be a great opportunity to discuss theoretical aspects of lipid oxidation as well as state-of-the-art knowledge and applications
in lipid oxidation prevention. Discussions will take place on scientific and technological developments in lipid oxidation and antioxidants
in six sessions covering
- antioxidant and lipid oxidation evaluation methods
- elucidation of lipid oxidation and antioxidant mechanisms
- lipid oxidation in multiphase and complex systems
- control of lipid oxidation
- protein and lipid co-oxidation
- nutritional and physiological effects of oxidized lipids and antioxidants.
With its rich cultural, historical, architectural and culinary offerings, Graz is an ideal location for a Euro Fed Lipid conference.
The city was added to the UNESCO list of World Cultural Heritage Sites in 1999 and the site was extended in 2010 with Eggenberg Palace.
The historic centre of Graz is one of the best-preserved city centres in Central Europe. Graz was the Cultural Capital of Europe for 2003 and got the title of a City of Culinary Delights in 2008. And June marks the start of summer, with pleasant temperatures inviting you to discover this vibrant city.
We look forward to welcoming you to Graz for the 2nd International Symposium on Lipid Oxidation and Antioxidants from 4-6 June 2018

The RMS Titanic was the second of the three Olympic-class ocean liners — the first was the RMS Olympic and the third was the HMHS Britannic.
They were by far the largest vessels of the British shipping company White Star Line's fleet.
The ships were constructed by the Belfast shipbuilders Harland and Wolff, who had a long-established relationship with the White Star Line
dating back to 1867.Harland and Wolff were given a great deal of latitude in designing ships for the White Star Line; the usual
approach was for the latter to sketch out a general concept which the former would take away and turn into a ship design. Cost considerations
were relatively low on the agenda and Harland and Wolff was authorised to spend what it needed on the ships, plus a five percent
profit margin. In the case of the Olympic-class ships, a cost of £3 million (£250 million in 2015 money) for the first two ships was
agreed plus "extras to contract" and the usual five percent fee.
The passenger facilities aboard Titanic aimed to meet the highest standards of luxury. According to Titanic's general arrangement plans,
the ship could accommodate 833 First Class Passengers, 614 in Second Class and 1,006 in Third Class, for a total passenger capacity of 2,453.
In addition, her capacity for crew members exceeded 900, as most documents of her original configuration have stated that her full carrying
capacity for both passengers and crew was approximately 3,547. Her interior design was a departure from that of other passenger liners, which
had typically been decorated in the rather heavy style of a manor house or an English country house.

LAST CHANCE TO SIGN UP!
The international symposia on deep-fat frying organized through the DGF and Euro Fed Lipid have been held most of time in Europe and
North America. This is the first time it is held in China and will be organized jointly by the Euro Fed Lipid and the Chinese
Cereals and Oils Association.
There is a long tradition of deep frying in Asia’s cuisine. The oldest recording of frying process was found more than 3000 year old back
in the Chinese texts. In recent decades, the rapid development of China’s economy has resulted in a dramatic increase in frying industry.
We sincerely hope that this will be an opportunity for the experts and distinguished players in the area share their knowledge and
experiences in Shanghai, China.
Furthermore, it will be a great chance for all of participants to get more understanding of the Chinese culinary culture, fast development
and potential huge market.
