9th International Symposium on Deep-Frying
Higher Quality, Safer Products and Further Use
30-31 October 2017, Shanghai, China

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to the 9th international symposium on deep-fat frying! The international symposia on deep-fat frying organized through the DGF and Euro Fed Lipid have been held most of time in Europe and North America. This is the first time it is held in China and will be organized jointly by the Euro Fed Lipid and the Chinese Cereals and Oils Association (CCOA).

There is a long tradition of deep frying in Asia’s cuisine. The oldest recording of frying process was found more than 3000 year old back in the Chinese texts. In recent decades, the rapid development of China’s economy has resulted in a dramatic increase in frying industry. We sincerely hope that this will be an opportunity for the experts and distinguished players in the area share their knowledge and experiences in Shanghai, China.

Furthermore, it will be a great chance for all of participants to get more understanding of the Chinese culinary culture, fast development and potential huge market.

Registration is already open. Please find the lecture programme ans all further details at the congress webpage.
We also strongly encourage you to submit abstracts for further (poster) presentation and to consider one of the marketing/ sponsorship offers in the framework of this congress.

Uppsala Student Nations

Norrlandsnation The student nations or nationer at the two ancient universities in Uppsala and Lund, of which there are now thirteen at each university, are the oldest student societies in Sweden. The Uppsala nations have a history stretching back to around 1630–1640.

Traditionally, students were required to be members of the nation corresponding to the area from which they came. The nations are in charge of the sorts of social activities and venues that at other universities are handled by the student unions, fraternities, or companies: bars, clubs, theatre companies, orchestras, sports societies, and also some housing.

The nations take their names from the Swedish provinces from which they traditionally recruited their members, but do not always adhere to the strict practice of limiting membership according to those principles.

In addition to Uppsala and Lund, student nations were also formed at the University of Tartu and Royal Academy of Turku (now University of Helsinki), the second and third oldest universities in the Swedish Empire. Swedish educational institutions also have student unions, political and religious student societies, etc. Student nations exists at other Swedish universities as well, but they are strictly social organisations and membership is not required of all students.

2017: New Perspectives for oils+fats

Messe With the expansion of the olive oil area, new perspectives are opening up for oils+fats, Europe's leading business platform for the oil and fat industry, in the coming year. This is made possible thanks to the parallel holding of drinktec, the world’s leading trade fair for the beverage and liquid food industry, which is integrating SIMEI as new exhibition area for wine technology.

The two trade fairs create synergies in the liquid food area, which benefit exhibitors and visitors alike. The topic of olive oil is especially being strengthened by the link with SIMEI@drinktec. Exhibitors at oils+fats can present process technology for producing and processing olive oil in the environment of the internationally renowned wine technology exhibition SIMEI and benefit from their visitors.

oils+fats, drinktec and SIMEI@drinktec will be held simultaneously on the grounds of Messe München from September 11 to 15, 2017.
