15th Euro Fed Lipid Congress[updated 10.05.2016]
Oil, Fats and Lipids: New Technologies and Applications for a Healthier Life
27-30 August 2017, Uppsala, Sweden
hosted by the Nordic Lipidforum
Nordic Lipidforum has the great honor to host the 15th Euro Fed Lipid Congress 27-30 August 2017 in Uppsala, Sweden.
The symposium will take place at the Uppsala Concert & Congress (UKK) located in the very city center of Uppsala, within
short walking distance from the train station, all hotels and the historical center of Uppsala.
Some 1,500 years ago Uppsala was the power center of the land of the Swedes and an important place of worship; three viking
kings were buried here in the 6th century. When Sweden had been Christianized, Uppsala was made an archbishopric in 1164,
and became the religious center of Sweden.
Uppsala developed into a center for trade and learning, and Uppsala University was founded in 1477 as Scandinavia´s first
university. World-renowned scientists such as Carl Linnaeus, Anders Celsius and Olof Rudbeck lived and carried out their
work here. Sweden's first university hospital was founded in Uppsala already 1708 and is still one of Sweden's biggest
hospitals. During the 20th century, 8 Nobel prize winners have been connected with Uppsala University! In its strive to
always look for new innovative solutions, Uppsala also got a second University in 1977; The Swedish Agricultural
Uppsala as a university city today offers a vivid cultural environment and extraordinary student life. 50,000 students
are seen, heard, and noticed everywhere. World-class research and high quality education pursued here benefit society
and business on a global level.
Uppsala today is a modern city and also houses several important governmental agencies, such as the National Veterinary
Institute (SVA), the Swedish National Food Agency and the Medical Products Agency (MPA).
Welcome to spend time in a dynamic setting that hosts a wide range of interesting activities. Although located very close
to Stockholm, Uppsala has retained its small town charm, while offering a selection of cultural events, shops, and
restaurants worthy a bigger city. An exciting history and unique cultural treasures are literally right around every
corner. In Uppsala you visit an environment steeped in both tradition and the latest research.
The theme of the symposium reflects the great importance of oils, fats and lipids for a healthy life through its multiple
functions in all aspects of human life and care. The Scientific committee and the Nordic Lipidforum warmly welcome all
scientists with an interest in lipids to join the Euro Fed Lipid Congress in Uppsala in August 2017.
