Lipid Newsletter November 2009: Turkish Lipid Group Founded
Dear
Readers,
during
6th Euro Fed Lipid Congress last year in Athens, a Turkish group of 28
participants from academic, industrial and governmental areas came
together to discuss the possibility of establishing a Turkish Fats and
Oils Group. A
group of about 160 people dealing with research or production
of
fats
and oils came together through the Internet and wished for
a foundation of a Turkish Lipid Group. Some important
decisions
were then
made to found the Group in its first meeting in January 2009
held
in Adana by
the 7 participating executive members. After preparation of all
necessary documents, official
application was made and finally the association has just been
established. The main aims of the Turkish Lipid Group (YABITED) are as
follows:
1. Bringing people from industry,
universities, institutes and goverment together on a scientific
platform
2. Working for the solutions of current
problems in Fats and Oils and informing of the society about the
developments
3. Supporting research on Fats and
Oils and organizing scientific meetings
4. Making
contribution to keep the quality of fats and oils products
5.
Joining Euro Fed Lipid as an Institutional Member

Be part of it all and profit: It is easy to summarise the
opinions that the exhibitors and visitors expressed after the fair:
oils+fats 2009 ran very smoothly. With 2,600 visitors (2008: 1,200)
from 99 countries (2008: 58 countries), the third oils+fats set some
new records –among other reasons because it has established itself as
the most important event that the international oils and fats industry
has in Europe. The next oils+fats, the
International Trade Fair for the Production and Processing of Oils and
Fats made from Renewable Resources, will be held at the M,O,C, Munich
from November 24-26, 2010. Thanks to its new dates in 2010, for the
first time ever oils+fats will take place overlapping with the 8th Euro
Fed Lipid Congress in Munich. We would be pleased if you could also

Lipid Scientists Award 2010 |

| Young Lipid Scientists Award 2010
The
European Federation for the Science and Technology of Lipids (Euro Fed
Lipid) announces the Young Lipid Scientists Award 2010. The prize is
granted to applicants for distinguished research in the fields of lipid
science and technology.
The Young Lipid Scientists Award
consists of
- a certificate
-
a free one-year subscription of the European Journal of Lipid Science
and Technology
- free registration to the Euro
Fed Lipid Congress including travel expenses
The winner is
expected to give a 20 min oral presentation of her/his work.
Applications submitted will be evaluated by experts of the Young
Scientists Award Committee.
Personal applications only will be
accepted from scientists who are not older than 35 years as of the
application date. Original paper(s) not older than 2 years since
publication, a 2-page (maximum) summary of the work and a curriculum
vitae (all in English, six copies) should be submitted.
Research
already merited by other scientific awards will not be considered. The
deadline for submission is 31 March 2010. The prize will be awarded
during the 8th Euro Fed Lipid Congress, Munich, 21-24 November 2010.
