Lipid Newsletter March 2010: oils+fats switches to two-year cycle
Dear
Readers,
I would like to take
this opportunity to introduce myself to you. I am
the Exhibition Group Director of Business Unit IV at Messe München
GmbH. As
such, I
am responsible for various trade fairs including drinktec, the
International Trade Fair for Beverage and Liquid Food Technology. Since
the
beginning of the year, my Team has also been responsible for the
oils+fats.
In 2009,
both of these fairs were held at the same time here at the Trade Fair
Centre.
Perhaps you had an opportunity to stop by drinktec when you attended
the oils+fats.
Since then, we -the
new oils+fats Team- have taken advantage of every
opportunity to attend events, expand our knowledge of the oils and fats
industry and exchange ideas and information with industry
representatives. We
must act quickly to set the course for the future of oils+fats. In the
future,
oils+fats will be held every two years. We came to this decision by
mutual
agreement and in close conjunction with industry representatives. We
are
convinced that this is the right decision.
In concrete terms,
this means that the next oils+fats will take place at
the M,O,C, Event Center in Munich-Freimann from October 5-7,
2011. Switching to a two-year cycle also means it will be easier for us
to
coordinate the dates of other important industry events in the United
States, Asia and South America, which also take place every two years.
As a result, this
decision is in the best interest of the entire industry and gives
suppliers and
manufacturers the best prerequisites for your business!

Munich
has the strongest economy of any German city, as well as the
lowest unemployment rate of any German city with a population of more
than a
million people. Munich holds the headquarters of Siemens AG
(electronics), BMW (car), MAN AG (truck manufacturer, engineering),
Linde (gases), Allianz (insurance) and Munich Re (re-insurance), Rohde
& Schwarz (electronics), MTU Aero Engines (aircraft engines), EADS
(space and defence contractor), Krauss-Maffei (injection molding
machines), Infineon (semiconductors), Südchemie (Chemistry),
McDonalds
(European headquarters)
and Microsoft (European headquarters).
Among
German cities with more than 500,000 inhabitants purchasing power is
the highest in Munich.The breakdown by cities proper (not metropolitan
areas) of Global 500 cities listed Munich in 8th position in 2009.
Munich is also a centre for biotechnology, software and other service
industries.
Munich is the largest
publishing city in Europe and home to the Süddeutsche Zeitung, one
of
Germany's largest daily newspapers. Munich is also home to Germany's
largest public broadcasting network, ARD, and its largest commercial
network, Pro7-Sat1 Media AG, is home to the headquarters of the German
branch of Random House, the world's largest publishing house, and is
also host to the Burda publishing group.
Lufthansa
has opened a second hub at Munich's Franz Josef Strauss International
Airport, the second-largest airport in Germany, after Frankfurt
International Airport.
