Lipid Newsletter January 2010: Dietary Fatty Acids in Frankfurt
4th
European Symposium on Dietary Fatty Acids and Health, Frankfurt,
Germany, 3-4 March 2010 Dear
Readers, for the fourth time we invite you
to join us at Frankfurt to discuss very recent findings on dietary
fatty acids and health. After a lecture on lipotoxicity the
presentations focus on cardiovascular disease and its risk factors:
What is the importance of milk lipids for coronary heart disease? How
are fatty acids involved in the pathogenesis of the metabolic syndrome?
Is there an impact of dietary fat on cardiac function? The first day
closes with a first presentation on Omega-3 fatty acids: Is there a
role
for mood regulation? The second day is mainly
devoted to Omega-3 fatty acids. After an initial lecture on proven
health
effects it is tried to answer the question whether Alpha-linolenic acid
can
replace longer Omega-3 fatty acids in the diet. Further presentations
focus
on Omega-3 fatty acids and inflammation and their role in cardiac risk
modification in patients with the metabolic syndrome. The
conference closes with a critical presentation on the transfer of
scientific knowledge into clinical practice.A
limited number of abstracts dealing with dietary fatty acids and health
can be accepted for poster presentation. We encourage you to send us
your abstract until February 15, 2010.You are
heartily welcome at Frankfurt for extensive discussion. The

November 2010,
Munich, Germany
New team behind oils+fatsoils+fats,
the International Trade Fair for the Production and Processing of Oils
and Fats made from Renewable Resources, is starting the new year with a
new team behind it! Within Messe München, responsibility for this trade
fair switches from Business Unit 5 to Business Unit 4.
Dr
Rainer Pfeiffer, the Managing Director now responsible for oils+fats,

What to do in
Munich? Visit Upper Bavaria, south of Munich! |
|
| Upper Bavaria Beauty on
an epic scale - idyllic scenery and picture-book villages
Upper Bavaria,
Germany's southernmost region, extends between the river Lech, the
river Salzach, the Altmühl valley and the Bavarian Alps. It has a
number of mountain ranges, from the rocky Wetterstein mountains in the
west - which include Germany's highest peak, the Zugspitze (2,963
metres) - to the Karwendel mountains and the Berchtesgaden Alps in the
east.
Spectacular Alpine scenery are not the
only features of the Upper Bavarian landscape. It also has many
beautiful lakes - Chiemsee, Waginger See, Königsee, Schliersee,
Tegernsee, Kochelsee, Walchensee, Eibsee, Starnberger See and Ammersee.
Upper Bavaria is a region of picture-book
scenery, healthy fresh air and unspoilt nature. Its numerous lakes,
national parks and nature conservation areas are a paradise for
holidaymakers and sports fans.
A healthy
environment, beneficial springs and a wide range of revitalising
packages, events and activities are the attractions at the many
renowned spas and health resorts in the region. Continuing a tradition
that crossed the Alps with the Romans,
There is
also a wide range of leisure and sports activities on offer all year
round. Another very Bavarian pleasure is to enjoy the hearty local
cuisine and a litre tankard of beer in one of the many traditional beer
gardens.

articles. Visitors do not need specialized
qualifications to contribute. The intent is to have articles that cover
existing knowledge, not create new knowledge (original research). This
